"Importance of a Business Continuation Plan"

Speaker: Michael A. Darany, CFP, EA

After serving in the United States Navy as a Radioman Yankee stationed in Vietnam, Michael A. Darany was licensed by the state of Florida in 1968 for the sale of life, health and fire insurance and disability annuities. He attained his Financial Planning certification in 1986, and after moving to Southern California in 1991, obtained his Enrolled Agents certification from the United States Department of Treasury to represent taxpayers in front of the I.R.S.

In 1991, Darany became one of the first approved providers for California’s continued education programs. He lectured extensively throughout Southern California on various insurance topics from estate planning, proper use of insurance in business to life insurance laws (TEFRA-DEFRA, etc).

Darany is a past Board Member and Officer of the IAFP in South Florida where he was responsible for program development. As Chairman of the first symposium held by the IAFP, which included 110 exhibitors at the Fontainebleau Hotel in Miami Beach, Darany organized and ran a four day program that included both professional programs and family events for over 600 attendees. So highly successful was the event that it became a format followed and improved upon for many years to come.

Darany has been a contributing author and has been quoted in numerous articles, city newspapers and trade journals, including The New York Times Sunday special section on financial planning. Additionally, at the invitation of The Orange County Register for the last three consecutive years, Darany has volunteered his time for the publication’s yearly tax help-line.

Darany’s wife, Deborah C. Darany, manages his Tustin tax and financial planning firm. They have been married for over 32 years and have one daughter, Danielle C. Macklin.
