PRODUCTIVITY – The present and future impact of CAD (Computer Aided Design).

For more than 20 years productivity has been increasing at the rate of 3-8% per quarter. It is most evident in the plethora of electronic and mechanical devices, appliances and automobiles bombarding the market every day. CAD is the heart and soul of modern building and manufacturing. State-of-the-art CAD systems can sculpt the land, pour the foundation, build, furnish and decorate the building, and test the structure under all conditions - all without turning a spade of earth.
Other examples of outstanding productivity gains are in the areas of communications, word processing, spreadsheets and high-level languages and compilers for computer programs.
Jim will show some examples of CAD generated drawings and schedules using Autodesk’s Architectural Desktop and AutoCAD.

Bio: Jim founded Nano Pulse Industries in 1970 from the remnants of a former employer that manufactured small transformers for computer circuits. Over the next 10 years NPI grew from two people to more than 250 people in three plants in Anaheim, Hong Kong and Taiwan, with annual revenues of over $3 million.
After NPI, Jim was an AutoCAD dealer for 10 years. In 1995 he merged his dealership business with Lackner Computer Systems. Jim “retired” in 2000 and now teaches AutoCAD, Architectural Desktop and Building Systems (plumbing & electrical) to clients and customers. He also does design and drafting for selected clients for mechanical equipment and electrical & communication contractors.
Jim’s favorite sport is skiing at Mammoth Mountain.
